The idazery Practice

What you were going to remember and didn't.

· 1 min read

You've done it before.

A birthday you meant to call about.

A deadline you were sure was next week.

A call you promised to make “tomorrow”.

You didn't forget because it didn't matter.

You forgot because you trusted your head
with something it was never built to hold.

And the worst part is that you only notice
when it's already too late.

Write.

Write down three things
you can't afford to forget this month.

Don't check your calendar.

Write what comes to mind first.

Look.

Now look at each one and ask:

Does it have a date somewhere?

Or does it only live in your head?

The ones that only live in your head
are the ones you'll forget.

Not because you're careless.

Because that's how memory works.

Decide.

Don't try to save them all.

Pick the one that would hurt most
if it slipped away.

Just one.

Do.

Open idazery and go to your Reminders.

Create that one, with its date.

If it comes back every year or every month,
say so, and you'll never have to set it up again.

Then write in today's entry:

“I no longer have to remember…”

A reminder doesn't make you forgetful.

It frees your head for what's worth thinking about.

See you next Sunday,
