The idazery Practice

You don't need more time.

· 1 min read

You've spent days thinking about the same thing.

You already know what to do.

But you keep thinking.

Because thinking feels easier than deciding.

The question isn't what you should do.

It's this:

What are you avoiding deciding?

Write.

We say we need more time.

That we need to think it through more.
That we want to wait a little longer.
That we need to get clear first.

Sometimes that's true.

But other times we're not looking for clarity.

We're delaying the moment
we'll have to do something.

Write down something you've been turning over
for more than two weeks.

Not something huge.

A conversation.
A project.
A pending task.
A change you know you have to make.

One line is enough.

Look.

Read it back.

Now ask yourself:

Has any new information come up
since day one?

Or have you just kept thinking
about what you already knew?

Decide.

Write down a decision you've been putting off.

Not the perfect answer.

The decision that's good enough.

The one you'd make
if you couldn't wait another week.

Do.

Open your journal.

Write:

“I already know enough to…”

And finish the sentence.

You don't have to solve everything today.

Just stop calling “thinking”
what's already avoiding a decision.

See you next Sunday,
